美国黑人作家、政治活动家。因不愿用白人的名字，在信奉伊斯兰教后，改名为艾马穆·阿米里·巴拉卡。他生于新泽西州纽瓦克市，1953年毕业于霍华德大学，1954年起在美国空军服役两年。先后在哥伦比亚大学、布法罗大学讲授戏剧、诗歌等课程。60年代初开始创作。1972年成为全国黑人政治核心小组领导人之一。他写过诗歌、剧本、小说、论文，作品中充满了对美国白人种族主义的憎恨，表达了美国黑人的愿望和要求。1961年出版了第一本诗集《二十卷自杀笔记的序言》。他的戏剧代表作为《荷兰人》（1964），描写一个黑人青年为反抗一个白人妇女的戏弄和侮辱而遭到她的杀害。此外，他还写了《四个黑人革命剧本》(1969)。他的剧本大多为独幕剧。
