配合水利工程地质勘察所进行的测量工作。其基本任务是：①为坝址、 厂址、 引水洞、水库、堤线、料场、 渠道、 排灌区的地质勘察工作提供基本测量资料；②主要地质勘探点的放样；③连测地质勘探点的平面位置、高程和展绘上图。具体工作包括：钻孔测量、井硐测量、坑槽测量、地质点测量、剖面测量等。一般应用经纬仪、水准仪和电磁波测距仪等进行。中国从20世纪70年代以来，地面摄影测量、航空摄影测量与遥感技术在水利工程地质勘察测量中的应用日益广泛。地质勘探点的测量精度按有关规定可分为三类：①水工建筑物地区的钻孔以及竖井、平硐的起点高程和平面位置按厘米级精度测定；②查明地下水水位或观测地下水动态的钻孔、井、泉和江、河水位点，其高程按厘米级、平面位置按分米级精度测定；③地质点（构造点、岩性点、地貌点、岩层界线点等）、物探点、坑槽点、剖面点、料场和一般地区的钻孔、高程和平面位置的测量精度均取至分米。
