法国人文地理学家。1872年 6月13日生于厄尔省的加永,1940年7月27日卒于巴黎。早年求学于巴黎高等师范学校，是P.维达尔－白兰士的学生。曾是中学教师。1905～1911年任教于里尔大学。1911～1940年任巴黎大学地理学教授。
德芒戎毕生致力于人文地理学研究，认为人文地理学是对人类集团与地理环境的关系的研究，把地理环境看作是由人类创造的，并在其中劳动和生存的那种改变过的环境。他的人文地理学概念体系继承和发展了法国人文地理学派的"维达尔传统"。代表作是《法国经济和人文地理》(1946)、《人文地理学诸问题》(1952)。
