Some scholars,at the end of the Ming Dynasty and at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty,created a new theory of learning——Chinese Islamic Philosophy——on the basis of Islamic philosophy and under the influence of Chinese Confucianism,particularly Neo-Confucianism.
明清之际中国一些具有儒伊双重文化气质的知识分子在伊斯兰哲学的基础上,同时也在中国儒学,尤其是宋明理学的影响下,创造了我国一个新的学说体系——中国伊斯兰哲学。

中国伊斯兰教协会创办的全国性伊斯兰教专业院校，是培养阿訇、毛拉的高等学府。1955年成立于北京。至60年代前期,除先后招收了5个班级的130多名学员外,还办了研究班。60年代后期起，曾一度停办。1980年4月，中国伊斯兰教第四届代表会议通过了"尽快恢复中国伊斯兰教经学院"的决议。1981年举办了阿訇进修班，次年10月恢复本科班的招生。办学宗旨是造就一批热爱祖国、拥护社会主义制度,有相当宗教学识、宗教操守,又有较高文化的阿訇。设置《古兰经》、圣训、教法、凯拉姆学、伊斯兰教史、阿拉伯语、汉语、政治、历史等课程。伊斯兰专业课约占70％，文化课约占30％。
