As an important event in modern French history, the Dreyfus event is to a large extent “an event of the French intellectuals”, which, in the perspective of the history of the intellectuals, indicates the background of the “birth” of “the French intellectuals”.

美国电影演员、导演、制片人。1937年 8月18日生于加利福尼亚州圣莫尼卡。曾在美国戏剧学院学习,1959年初登百老汇舞台饰演配角，60年代起经常在电视和电影里演配角。1969年因在影片《卡西迪和基德》中扮演基德而成名。70年代以来他拍摄了不少影片，其中不乏佳作，如以"水门事件"为背景反映美国重大政治事件的《总统班底》(1976)、通过牛仔英雄的遭遇揭露大企业内幕的《电光骑士》(1979)以及反映美国监狱的恐怖与腐败的《布鲁贝克》(1979)等。这些影片都具有一定社会意义，雷德福演技自然潇洒，为这些影片增色不少。70年代末，他开始从事导演工作，导演的第一部影片是《普通人》(1980)，从一个侧面反映了美国中产阶级家庭的崩溃过程。影片获得1981年奥斯卡最佳影片奖，雷德福也因此获得最佳导演奖。80年代以来，他演出的影片主要有《自然的人》(1984)、《走出非洲》(1985)等，后者获奥斯卡最佳影片奖。
