中国出版的历史较久的大型综合性画报。1926年 2月15日在上海创刊。创办人伍联德，历任主编有伍联德、周瘦鹃、梁得所、马国亮、张沅恒等。此刊为月刊。印刷精良， 内容丰富。曾及时以大量图片反映"九一八"事变、"一二八"事变、狱中"七君子"、江西苏维埃政府、抗日战争和第二次世界大战等重大政治时事以及孙中山、周恩来、朱德、彭德怀、冯玉祥、鲁迅、蒋介石等人的活动情况。还刊出孙中山、于右任等人的墨迹和徐悲鸿、齐白石、张大千、刘海粟、高奇峰等著名书画家的作品。也刊登文艺创作和名家回忆录，如冯玉祥的《我的入伍前后》、戈公振的《报业回忆》、徐悲鸿的《悲鸿自述》。销行国内外,最初每期发行7000册,后增至4万册。1941年末,因太平洋战争爆发停刊。抗日战争胜利后，于1945年10月曾续出一期,共出版172期和两个特刊。1954年在香港复刊，仍由伍联德主编。1968年停刊。1984年由伍联德之子伍福强再度在香港复刊。 (见彩图)
