桐木岭距茨东北面9公里，海拔866米，是人文与自然景观相结合的景区。桐木岭、遍山桐树，春夏桐花盛开，煞是好看，故有“桐木岭”之称。井冈山斗争时期，红军在桐木岭上修筑哨口，属著名的五大哨口之一。1960年5月，著名作家杜宣井冈山行，路经桐木岭，见山峰如画，赋诗《桐木岭》赞曰： 松杉苍翠青葱茏，水满清溪云绕峰。 人在途中如入画，万山重叠一关雄。 伟绩各山果不同，每临峭壁忆英雄。 岂因行列当年血，染得鹃花分外红。
