On the basis of analyzing six connotations of multi-discipline research of higher education at present,the paper proposes that multi-discipline research of higher education should include three layers which are the theory of research method,research mode,idiographic method and technique,thus leading to two inspirations.

From the view of meta-research,in order to standardize multi-discipline research,and make it accordant with discipline logic of higher education,we must give the reasonable answer to the three following basic theoretical questions,namely the essence of multi-discipline study,and being disciplined towards higher education and its localization.

Reflection on multi-disciplinary research of higher education:from the disciplinary to the methodological viewpoint;

Accordingly, in the course of higher education and the study, it is necessary to distinct between the multi-disciplinary study on higher education and the study of higher education with the methodology of multi-disciplinary research.

Besides,from a research standpoint,the issues facing management and society today call for a return to problem-centered,analytically grounded,multi-disciplinary research.
