| 手工艺 arts and crafts 以手工劳动进行制作的具有独特艺术风格的工艺美术。有别于以大工业机械化方式批量生产规格化日用工艺品的工艺美术。手工艺历史悠久，品类繁多，有着优秀的艺术传统和独特的艺术风格，主要体现在以下几个方面：①大多取用天然材料，使产品具有自然的质地美和纹理美。②手工艺的劳动是创作设计和生产操作的统一，脑力劳动和体力劳动的统一，艺术创作和科学技术的统一。③在历史上，由于政治、经济、文化等因素的影响，形成了手工艺的传统产区和生产、销售集中的街市。④手工艺中的民间手工艺和少数民族手工艺，突出反映了劳动人民追求美好、幸福生活的愿望和健康的思想感情，在艺术上追求简洁、纯朴、清新的创作风格。手工艺的分类方法有多种。按历史范畴分，有原始社会手工艺（如彩陶、骨雕、石雕等），传统手工艺（如景泰蓝、雕漆、玉器、金银器皿等），现代手工艺（如纤维编结壁挂、棒针编结等）；按社会属性分，有宫廷手工艺（后称特种手工艺），民间手工艺、少数民族手工艺；按产品分有雕塑手工艺、印染手工艺、织锦手工艺、陶瓷手工艺、刺绣手工艺等。
