以l天24小时不间断地在纽约、伦敦、东京等地经营;伦敦经过证券界的“大震动”(Biga知g)后，英国政府允许外国公司企业自由参加证券交易活动，使国际交易活动更加活跃;日本政府也取消日本人买卖美国金融期货的禁令，允许外国证券商作为东京证券市场的成员。早在印年代发展起来的欧洲债券市场也无疑推动了证券市场全球一体化的发展，提高了金融市场全球一体化的深度。 虽然，金融市场的全球一体化在80年代以来已有了迅速的发展，但还不能说已实现了完全的一体化，只能说是金融市场全球一体化程度的逐步加深。这可以从两个途径来比较相同金融工具在不同金融市场上的利率:一种是比较国内金融市场与欧洲货币市场的利率差异;另一种是根据利息平价计算利率偏差，以此来探测金融市场全球一体化的深度。程度是指这一商品在某一地理区域范围内价格(扣除运输成本和交易成本)的一致程度。一致程度越高，这一商品的一体化程度也就越高;反之，如果市场参与者获得信息的成本不同，或者存在贸易障碍，价格的差别就会增加，差别越大，市场一体化的程度就越低。这一概念同样也适用于金融市场的一体化，它是指相同金融工具在不同金融市场上的价格(收益)一致性。如果美元债券在纽约金融市场和伦敦金融市场上的价格完全相同，就可以说这两个市场就是一体化的市场。同样，如果美元债券在所有金融市场上的价格一样，就可以说，美元债券市场实现了一体化，这也就是市场之间的联系。 因此，所谓金融市场的全球一体化就是印年代开始的国际金融市场之间以及国内和国外金融市场之间的日益紧密的联系，它们相互影响，相互促进，逐渐走向一个统一的全球性金融市场。其具体表现是相同金融工具在不同金融市场上的价格逐渐一致。所以，金融市场全球一体化是有一个发展过程的。 与全球一体化相近的两个概念是国际化(LltemationaliZation)和全球化(Gloh山留石on)。西方经济学家奥林·格拉比(Orin Qabbe)在其《国际金融市场》一书中把国际化归结为三方面的内容:(l)各国金融市场在时间上和空间上更加紧密地连成一体，表现为全世界的金融投资者可以全天24小时在任何一个主要金融市场上不停地进行各种金融活动;(2)有价证券趋向全球化，投资者在全球范围内选择有价证券;(3)各国银行和金融机构跨国化。
