形态特征子实体中等至较大。一年生。菌盖直径6-12cm，半园形、肾脏形至近圆形，扁平，赤褐色或紫红褐色。或近暗茶褐色至黑褐色，表面光滑，具明显的同心环棱纹及放射状凹凸不平的条纹，边缘薄或钝，内卷，新鲜时近白色。管孔面白色带黄色。菌柄侧生，或有偏生或中生，黑褐色，近圆柱形，光亮，长0-20cm，粗0.6-1cm。孢子卵圆形，壁双层，10-12.5μm×7.5-8.5μm。

生态习性夏秋季生于针叶树根或树桩附近。
分布地区原发现于日本，记载在云南滇中有此种
经济用途据记载在云南可药用。引起树桩部位木材形成白色腐朽。与紫灵芝(G.sininsis)形态特征比较相似。
