格式塔心理学的同型论
格式塔心理学认为心理现象是完整的格式塔，是完形，不能被人为的区分为元素。惠太海默认为感觉元素不是自然而然观察到的现象，而是人为的抽象的产物。格式塔心理学家认为，自然而然经验到的现象都自成一个格式塔，这个格式塔是一个通体相关的有组织的整体，它不是部分之和，而部分也不含有整体的特性。格式塔不仅是一个有组织的整体，并且本身含有一定的意义，可以不受以前经验的影响。
格式塔心理学家认为，物理现象和生理现象都有同样格式塔的性质，因而它们都是同型的。既然物理现象与心理现象、生理现象与心理现象是同型的，那么它们之间就有着相对等的关系。比如，我们的空间知觉、时间知觉都是和大脑皮层内的同样过程相对等的。
格式塔心理学家把他们解决心物和心身关系的这种理论称为同型论。
