性质:黄色针状结晶(甲醇-水),熔点198~200℃。针状结晶(乙醇-水),熔点213℃。黄色棱柱状结晶(醋酸乙酯),熔点198~199℃和185~186℃(分解)。存在于豆科植物甘草(Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.)的根、鹰嘴豆(Cicer arietinum L.)的幼苗中。具有类似罂粟碱样解除平滑肌痉挛作用。对大鼠幽门结扎形成的溃疡有抑制作用。具有醛糖还原酶抑制活性、抗血小板活性,有可能用于多种糖尿病并发症的治疗。
