Objective:To observe the influence of electro-acupuncture on the nucleus raphes dorsalis with ultramicroscopic structure change and serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine,5-HT)level in neurosal rats.

Employing a nystatin-perforated patch-clamp whole-cell recording technique, we investigated the modulatory effects of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) on glycine (Gly)-activated whole-cell currents (IGly) in neurons acutely dissociated from the superficial laminae (laminae Ⅰ and Ⅱ ) of the dorsal horn of the spinal cord in the rat.

A triple immunofluorescence histochemical staining technique was used to examine the connections between serotoninlike immunoreactive (5-HT-LI), substance P(SP)-LI terminals and thalamic(TH)- or para brachial (PBN) - projection neurons in the superficial laminae(lamina Ⅰand lamina Ⅱ) of the caudal spinal trigeminal nucleus(Vc) in the rat with con focal laser-scanning microscopy.
