地层层序律 superposition of strata,law of 传统地层学的普遍性原理。又称叠覆原理。在层状岩层的正常层序中,先形成的岩层位于下面,后形成的岩层位于上面。依据这一原理,可判定岩层形成的先后。这一原理是丹麦地质学家N.斯泰诺于1669年首先提出来的。它是对沉积物单纯纵向堆积作用而言。但实际上还存在侧向堆积作用,而绝大部分沉积岩层是侧向进积和纵向加积两种作用的结果。因此,地层层序律对局部或单个地层剖面是适宜的,而对较大范围的区域就不一定适宜了。 |
