位于胸部的椎骨共12个，也参于胸廓的组成，以上向下逐渐增大。胸椎的形态主要特点是在椎体的两侧有肋凹，与肋骨小头构成关节，在横突尖端的前面有横突肋凹与肋结节构成关节，棘突很长，斜向后下，并相互掩盖，呈叠瓦状。
