化学式HBr。有刺激性气味的无色气体;熔点-88.5°C,沸点-67°C,气体密度3.5克/升(0°C);在水中溶解度很大。溴化氢不太活泼,但还原性比氯化氢强。例如,浓硫酸能将溴化氢氧化为溴,但不能将氯化氢氧化成氯,因此,不能用浓硫酸与溴化钠反应制取溴化氢。当有少量潮气存在时,溴化氢比较活泼。
制法有:①高温下溴与氢直接化合;②溴化钾与浓磷酸反应;③溴化磷水解。溴化氢在实验室里主要用来制备氢溴酸;工业上可做还原剂。
溴化氢的水溶液叫氢溴酸,在大气压下,它含HBr47%;126°C时沸腾而组成不变。氢溴酸是强酸,还原性比盐酸强,能缓慢地被空气中的氧所氧化。氢溴酸用于分析化学和有机合成中。
