性质:对特定细胞造成毒性作用的能力或趋势。如材料释放出的有毒物质可以引起细胞毒性反应,通过体外细胞毒性试验可检测材料的细胞毒性作用。例如,采用细胞培养细胞毒性试验的琼脂覆盖法对硅橡胶、聚丙烯、医用聚氯乙烯、聚乙烯醇、海藻酸钠、角膜接触镜、聚氨酯进行细胞毒性评价。采用L 929细胞株,于无菌CO2培养箱中培养。结果表明,这些材料或制品基本无毒或含少量生理活性物质引起细胞脱色。该试验在医用材料的生物相容性评价及医用制品的质量控制中确为一种灵敏可靠的方法。
