物种特征:描述：体大（30厘米）的蓝色、白色及黑色翡翠鸟。以头黑为特征。翼上覆羽黑色，上体其余为亮丽华贵的蓝色/紫色。两胁及臀沾棕色。飞行时白色翼斑显见。 虹膜－深褐色；嘴－红色；脚－红色。 叫声：受惊时尖声大叫。 分布范围：繁殖于中国及朝鲜，南迁越冬远至印度尼西亚。 分布状况：繁殖及过夏于华东、华中及华南从辽宁至甘肃的大部地区以及东南部包括海南岛。在台湾为迷鸟。在海拔600米以下的清澈河流边并不罕见。北方种群南迁越冬。 习性：喜大河流两岸、河口及红树林。栖于悬于河上的枝头。较白胸翡翠更为河上鸟。
