| 虎甲科 Cicindelidae 鞘翅目肉食亚目的一科。有拦路虎或导路虫之称。世界已知约2000种，主要分布于热带和亚热带地区。中国记载100多种。成虫、幼虫均为捕食性，捕食其他小昆虫或小动物，因而在害虫生物防治中常被用作捕食性的天敌。大多数种类生活于地面，也有少数树栖。地面种类体色多鲜艳，常有金属光泽，鞘翅常具金色条纹或斑点，一般出现于道路或河边沙滩上。在阳光下最活跃，有时停止于路面或作短距离低飞，飞行迅速。树栖种类，如树栖虎甲属和缺翅虎甲属，常在咖啡树或茶树的嫩枝上钻洞产卵，成为热带地区经济作物的害虫，但幼虫捕食介壳虫，又是有益的。
