物种特征:描述:体大(33厘米)的黑、白及褐色麦鸡。头、喉及胸中部黑色;耳羽具白色斑块;上背、翼覆羽及背部浅褐;翼尖、尾后缘及尾的次端斑黑色;翼斑、尾基尾尖及下体余部白色。嘴基上的红色肉垂使其得名。 虹膜-褐色;嘴-红色,端黑;脚-黄色。 叫声:告警时发出响而尖的叫声did-he-do-it, pity-to-do-it及ping的单音。 分布范围:波斯湾及印度次大陆至中国西南部和东南亚。 分布状况:亚种atronuchalis为云南西部及西南部干燥开阔地区的地方性常见鸟。 习性:栖于开阔地区、农田、稻田、沼泽地及河滩。性警觉,以快速振翅的飞行显示告警。
