“海盗”攻击机安装两台罗.罗公司的rb.168—1a“斯贝”101型涡轮风扇喷气发动机,进气口呈竖椭圆形。在尾喷口之后的机身尾锥,是一个蛤壳状开闭的减速板,上方是t形尾翼。其垂直尾翼前方有一根背脊与气泡双座座舱盖连成一线。机头是雷达罩锥体和一个空中加油杆。机身内部有一个放置式弹舱,可携带4颗454千克炸弹,两侧的后掠梯形中单翼下面,另有4个挂架,可挂炸弹、火箭、导弹或副油箱。

“海盗”有三大改型:“海盗”s.mk. ⅰ 舰载攻击机,“海盗” s.mk. ⅱ (ⅱa、ⅱb)、“海盗”s.mk. 50 出口南非的陆基型攻击机。
