      元素符号Pa,原子序数91,系锕系金属。231Pa是235U放射系的成员,233Pa是用中子照射232Th制取233U的中间产物。在放射平衡的情况下,一吨铀含340毫克镤。提取镤的原料是高品位铀矿提取铀后的残渣。1959和1961年英国原子能总局曾把60吨提铀后的乙醚渣,经过12级过程制得125克纯度为99.9%的镤。中国研究了从铀精矿提取铀、镭后的残渣中用离子交换和溶剂萃取法分离镤的方法。
  
  在1400℃用钡蒸气还原或在1250℃用钙还原四氟化镤(PaF4)均可制得粉状金属镤。新制得的镤有明亮的金属光泽,并能在空气中保持相当长的时间。通过间接测量的方法测得镤在1927℃下的蒸气压为5.1×10-5托。镤在水溶液中以五价或四价存在。
