    酸和碱相互作用生成水和盐的反应。例如盐酸和氢氧化钠的反应:
   HCl+NaOH=NaCl+H2O根据阿伦尼乌斯电离理论,电解质氯化钠在水中完全离解,所以中和反应实质上是H+和OH-作用生成水的反应:
   H++OH-→H2O
   强酸和强碱中和时, 等当点的pH值为7;强酸与弱碱中和时,等当点的pH值小于 7;弱酸与强碱中和时,等当点的pH值大于7 。酸碱中和反应是否已经达到等当点,通常利用指示剂的变色作为标记。常用的指示剂绝大多数是人工合成的染料,它们具有随pH值而改变颜色的性质。
