平均寿命 mean lifetime 粒子产生后到衰变时为止平均存在的时间。粒子的性质之一。简称寿命,记为τ。当粒子运动速度很快接近光速时,由于相对论效应,平均寿命将比粒子静止时的长。粒子物理中的平均寿命指该粒子静止时的平均寿命。 除了光子、中微子、电子和质子之外,其他粒子都能自发衰变,平均寿命分布在很大的范围。中子的寿命最长,为896秒,其他衰变粒子的寿命都短于10-5秒,最短的约为10-25秒。粒子的寿命与引起粒子衰变的相互作用类型有关,弱衰变的寿命为>10-14秒,电磁衰变的寿命为10-20~10-16秒,强衰变的寿命为10-25~10-20秒。粒子物理通常把寿命>10-20秒的粒子称为稳定粒子,其寿命算是长的。对于长寿命粒子,其寿命可通过粒子在径迹探测器内的径迹长度推算;对于强衰变的粒子,寿命极短,不能靠径迹测量,而是根据粒子寿命τ与能量( 质量 )的不确定度Γ之间存在的不确定关系τΓ~h来确定。Γ又称为衰变宽度。因此测出粒子衰变引起的质量分布,量出衰变宽度Γ可计算出寿命τ,或者寿命就由衰变宽度Γ表示。 |
