潮热
阵阵发热如海潮的来去称潮热。它是更年期最多见的症状之一。绝经前后的妇女常在无诱因，甚至睡眠情况下，突然发热，多从胸颈部开始，向头上涌散，每次持续或反复数秒至数分钟。阵阵发热时，皮肤亦可同时发红，称为潮红(hot flush)，然后热感消散，继之出汗并感觉寒冷。这是典型的自主神经功能失调，血管舒缩失调症状，每日可出现2～3次至10数次不等，遇情绪波动可即时触发。用雌激素口服，外用或注射均可减轻至消除潮热症状。多数人不必行特殊治疗，潮热1～2年内逐渐消失，个别可长达5～6年或更长，但总的倾向是减轻至最终自然消除。
