【核链式反应】(nuclearchainreaction)指能自持进行的原子核反应。如铀-235核受到中子轰击后，分裂成两块，同时放出二至三个次级中子和一定能量。除去损耗以后，这些次级中子中如能至少剩下一个以引起另一个铀-235核裂变，则裂变反应就可继续下去，这样的链式反应是自持的。原子弹与核反应堆是根据这一原理而设计的。
