理气法之一，运用降气的药物治疗气逆的治法。气逆证是气机上逆不降所引起的病证，降气法有降脏腑之气逆使之下行的作用，主要用于胃气上逆证和肺气上逆证。肺胃之气以下降为顺，若受邪气的影响，或正气不足皆可使肺胃之气上逆而不降。胃气上逆常见恶心呕吐，嗳气呃逆等症；肺气上逆常见咳喘等症。肺主吸气，肾主纳气，肺气上逆也可因肾虚不能纳气所致。根据不同脏腑的病变所致的气逆证，降气法有降逆和胃、降气平喘、纳气等具体治法。
降逆和胃 适用于胃气上逆所致的恶心，呕吐，嗳气，呃逆等症。常用降逆和胃的药物有旋复花、代赭石、半夏、竹茹、柿蒂等，代表方如旋复代赭汤、丁香柿蒂汤。
胃气上逆多因饮食积滞,痰湿中阻，寒热犯胃,胃气虚弱，或肝气犯胃所致。故降逆和胃常与消食化滞、化痰祛湿、温中散寒、清热、疏肝解郁、补益脾胃等法配合使用。
降气定喘 适用于肺气上逆所致的气喘,咳嗽,胸膈满闷等。常用降气平喘的药物有苏子、杏仁、紫苑、款冬花、麻黄等。代表方剂如苏子降气汤、定喘汤。
肺气上逆多由风寒外束，寒热邪气，痰饮犯肺以及肺虚所致，故降逆平喘常与发散风寒，温肺、清肺、化痰或补肺等治法配合使用。
纳气 适用于肾虚不能纳气所致的气喘，短气，动则尤甚，咳逆汗出，小便常因咳而失禁等症。常用补肾纳气药物有胡桃肉、蚧蛤、山萸肉等。代表方剂如人参胡桃汤、七味都气丸。
临床注意事项 使用降气法应寻求气逆的病因，以治其本。
