This article attempts to introduce the concept of meaning parameter into literary translation criticism,centered on five of its types analyzed in the latest Chinese translation of Wuthering Heights,in order to prove that verbal faithfulness alone does not necessarily bring about the best translation and that extra-textual elements are of the equal importance as the textual ones.

In view of theoretical mix which exists in long time,this paper analyses it from the angles of general constitutions and especial constitutions and then discusses the great theoretical significance of defining it definitively.
