| 索末菲（1868～1951） Sommerfeld，Arnold Johannes Wilhelm 德国物理学家 。1868年12月5日生于东普鲁士的柯尼斯堡，1951年4月26日卒于慕尼黑 。1886年在柯尼斯堡大学主修数学，1891 年获博士学位后 ，任格丁根大学助教 。1897年任克劳斯塔尔矿业学校数学教授，1900年任亚琛技术学院教授。1906年起任慕尼黑大学理论物理学教授。在慕尼黑大学工作期间他做了最重要的研究工作，提出用椭圆轨道代替玻尔原子的圆轨道，引入轨道的空间量子化等概念，成功地解释了氢原子光谱和重元素 X 射线谱的精细结构以及正常塞曼效应（见索末菲椭圆轨道理论）。他的金属电子论，对温差电和金属导电的研究很有价值。索末菲是一位出色的教师，学生P.J.W.德拜 、W.K.海森伯 、W.泡利和 H.A.贝特等人还获得了诺贝尔奖。索末菲坚决反对纳粹德国的反犹太运动和所谓“德意志物理学”，无畏地表示了自己的明确立场，纳粹刊物曾攻击他是“文化界中犹太文化的代理人”。 |
