In this paper, two problems-the design of conical heads subjected to external pressure and stress intensity existing around opening are analyzed and discussed.

In this paper,the authors carried out stress analysis for knuckle (transitional section) of toriconical heads (conical heads with transitional section),proposed another rule design method based on membrane theory,which is contrasted with the rule design method in operation,for the knuckle of toriconical heads.
