以蒸气吸入呼吸道来治疗呼吸道炎症的方法。目的在于改善上呼吸道的血液循环，减轻局部炎症反应，使分泌物易于咯出。一般用壶或罐盛水和药加热至沸点，成蒸气后由呼吸道吸入。使用前面部涂以少许油脂，以防烫伤。结束后用毛巾揩拭面部，注意保暖，避免受凉。
