On basis of the features of the shield tunneling in mixed ground,the authors make some recommendations on the content/quantity optimization and stage division of the geological investigation works in the paper.

This paper summarises the existing problem and hard point of passing by isolated boulders, after probing the shield tunnelling technique in the boulder existing mix ground on the base of analysing a typcial regime persisting in shield tunnelling in Guangzhou area, and finally proposes a respective solution to this effect.
