   古希腊悲剧作家埃斯库罗斯的代表作之一。首演于公元前458年,是《俄瑞斯忒亚》三部曲的第一部 ,也是最杰出的一部。三部曲写一个家族复仇的悲惨故事,第一部写阿加门农遇害,后两部写由此开始的一连串仇杀。阿加门农是远征特洛伊的希腊联军统帅,他出征在外时,他的妻子、王后克吕泰涅斯特拉与人私通。阿加门农带着女俘卡桑德拉胜利归来,王后曲意奉迎,将他和女俘迎入宫中。卡桑德拉预感到入宫凶多吉少,但也只能随往。不久,王后手持滴血的利剑出宫,与情人庆贺谋杀成功。长老们则义愤填膺,诅咒她的凶狠残暴。这部剧情节比较简单,剧情发展缓慢,人物性格的刻画不深刻,也不讲究发展变化,但却个性鲜明。阿加门农在战争中杀人如麻,意志坚强,他的被杀有悲剧性,但也隐含着作者对不义战争的否定。王后生性刚毅,阴险狠毒,又残忍刻薄,是个有声有色的人物。全剧意境悲壮动人,诗句瑰丽多姿,气势恢宏浩荡。20世纪30年代,此剧被译介到中国。
