Through analyzing the requirement of sea reclamation project,this paper expatiates about the application of vacuum preloading drainage consolidation method in large-scale sea reclamation project.

The geologic structure, stratum, geomorphy and the features of geologic settlement of quaternary period in Macao District were briefly introduced in the paper and the significance of studying and analyzsing the geological condition of coastal engineering for sea reclamation were pointed out in it.

In the formation of sea reclamation region,backfill only experienced short time with most filling material of excavated-stone,so the loose structure,large interstice,smooth connectivity of underground water & sea water and strong scouring by tidal action existed,which brought difficulties in borehole completion and slurry solidification for water-proof curtain construction.
