子囊菌亚门的1纲。菌体结构比较简单,菌丝体无或发育不良。无性繁殖主要为细胞的芽殖或裂殖；有性生殖是在两个性细胞结合后，直接形成子囊或子囊枝。子囊裸露，薄壁，无专门的开口。多数腐生，少数是能引起植物病害的寄生菌，还有一些属种是与昆虫共生的虫道真菌。本纲包括酵母菌和外囊菌等。
依据子囊产生方式的不同，本纲下分3目,即①内孢霉目：子囊直接由两个细胞接合形成接合子，或是由单个细胞孤雌生殖而产生。②外囊菌目：子囊来自双核的产囊细胞,在寄主植物表面形成栅状层。③原囊菌目:子囊由双倍菌丝体发展成为厚垣孢子萌发形成。
