亦称茂。分子式C5H6，分子量66.10，结构简式无色液体。熔点-85℃，沸点41～42℃，不溶于水，溶于乙醇、乙醚、苯、四氯化碳等有机溶剂。性质很活泼，在常温下即聚合成二聚环戊二烯，受热后又解聚仍变为环戊二烯。用于制环戊二烯系农药，还可用来制备某些金属衍生物，如二茂铁及锂、钠、钾、镁等金属衍生物，并作为合成树脂及塑料的原料。可由高温煤焦油苯馏分的前一馏分和轻油裂解制乙烯的副产物碳五馏分中分出。也可由环戊烷的蒸气经催化脱氢而制得。
