形态特征:禾本科燕麦属一年生草本植物。秆高1米左右，有2-4节。叶片长20-30厘米，宽约1厘米。圆锥花序顶生，开展，小穗含2花，外稃质地较硬，背部无毛。成熟时内外稃紧抱子粒，不易分离，与裸燕麦不同。
生境分布:是华北、东北、西北牧区和半牧区常见的栽培谷类作物。
用途 谷粒供磨面食用或作饲料。茎、叶可作青饲料或造纸。
