发光(luminescence)

发光是物质的一种非热辐射的光发射。热辐射的基本特征是不随发热体的性质而改变。发光则反映材料的特征,它是外界因素如光、电等与物质的相互作用,使物质从基态转变为激发态,激发态经过辐射跃迁过程达到弛豫而发出的紫外、可见或红外辐射。外界作用一旦停止,发光也将结束,但有一个延续时间,比光的振动周期(10-14秒)长得多。可以根据此原理把发光与散射、反射等其他光发射区分开来。

由于激发方式的不同,发光可分为光致发光、电致发光、阴极射线发光、化学发光、辐射发光等。其主要应用领域在光源、显示器、探测器及光电子器件等方面。
