地理种 geographic race
同一种生物以地区不同所产生的形态差异为区别时,称之为地理种。地理种的形成原因一般认为是地理的隔离。地理种所在范围的大小根据情况不同有多种多样,有在同一溪谷的不同地点的果蝇显有不同地理种的例子。原则上,虽同一地域内是不能存有同一种的两个地理种,但偶尔也可见到,那是因为地理种形成后由于分布圈扩大而出现比较新的接触区之故〔例如大山雀(parus major),欧洲的北方亚种(p.major major)和东亚的p.major minor在乌苏里共存,以及印度系的p.major cinereus在伊朗北部出现杂居〕。
