化学成分为Cu2FeSnS4，晶体属四方晶系的硫化物矿物。旧名黝锡矿。含锡量27.5％，是提炼锡的矿物原料。黄锡矿呈微带橄榄绿色调的钢灰色，金属光泽。摩斯硬度3～4，比重4.3～4.5。通常成粒状块体产出于热液矿床中。中国广西、湖南等地的锡矿床、多金属矿床中也常有。玻利维亚的波托西为世界著名产地。
