   化学式MgSO4,无色晶体。加热到1124℃分解,相对密度2.66。在自然界 ,以苦盐(  MgSO4·7H2O  )和硫镁矾矿(MgSO4·H2O)的形式存在。在水溶液中结晶析出的为MgSO4·7H2O,加热至50℃,转变为MgSO4·6H2O,70℃变为MgSO4,200℃得MgSO4。无水和一水合硫酸镁在水中的溶解速度缓慢,只有六水和七水合硫酸镁易溶于水。MgSO4·7H2O是泻药,硫酸镁还用于造纸、纺织、肥皂、油漆工业。
