俗名尼泊金丙酯。无色或白色粉末。几乎无嗅，稍有涩味。分子量180.21。熔点95-98℃。极微溶于水。溶于乙醇、丙二醇。
生产方法：主要采用酯化法。由苯酚钾在加压下与二氧化碳反应先制成对羟基苯甲酸。然后与丙醇在硫酸催化剂存在下进行酯化反应，最后经洗涤、脱色、重结晶、离心脱水、干燥而得。
用途：化妆品防腐剂。属酚类防腐剂。添加量0.1％-1.0％。通常与尼泊金丁酯混合使用，具有良好的加成性和协同性。
