为一种治疗上消化道大出血的有效方法。操作时经口或鼻插管进入胃后，充气使管端的胃气囊膨胀，向外牵引，气囊即压迫胃底的曲张静脉，再充气使位于食管的囊膨胀，压迫食管的曲张静脉，常可获止血效果。应警惕置管可引起血液反流入气道而致窒息。止血24小时后宜放出囊内气体，以免压迫过久而引起黏膜糜烂。继续观察24小时，如再无出血，即可拔管。
