Based on the previous studies of rock lithology,structure,and construction,and the collected seismic & logging data,this study focused on the eruption times and periods,the lithofacies,and the distribution features of volcanic rocks in fault block Zao-35 of Dagang Oilfield.

According to the characteristics of the magnetic field in this area, the magnetic fields of the upper layer volcanic rock and the low layer volcanic rock are separated by using advanced potential field separation technique; then, the lower layer volcanic rock′s depth and thickness are inverted by using 3 dimension models.

Several hydrocarbon fields whose reservoir is volcanic rock have been discov ered in China,showing a new hydrocarbon exploration realm.
