| 艾克曼（1858～1930） Eijkman，Christiaan 荷兰营养学家。1858年8月11日生于内伊克尔克，1930年11月5日卒于乌得勒支。1883年毕业于阿姆斯特丹大学后在爪哇、苏门答腊任军医，后至柏林跟随科赫学习、工作。1886年参加荷兰政府组织的专门委员会，赴东印度群岛研究当地流行的脚气病，并领导脚气病研究室工作。1898年任乌得勒支大学公共卫生和法医学教授。1890年，偶然发现其供实验用的鸡群患了多发性神经炎，症状似人类的脚气病。当所用的鸡饲料改变，由带壳的粗米代替精白米饭后，结果鸡群的多发性神经炎痊愈。由此他得到启发，经过大量的实验，证明带壳的糙米有预防、治疗脚气病的作用。他首先发现食物中含有生命必需的微量物质；发现脚气病是因缺乏某种微量物质所引起。1911年与其同事自米糠中获得抗脚气病的浓缩液体，从而导致维生素B的发现。为此，他与F.G.霍普金斯共获1929年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖。 |
