   自然界的生物和非生物受外界环境因素综合影响而表现出的季节性现象。如植物的萌芽、发叶、开花、结实,动物的蛰眠、复苏、始鸣、交配和迁徙,以及凝霜、降雪、结冰、冰融、闪电和雷鸣等。由于地理和气候条件的不同,物候规律有地区性。在中国,物候具有下列特征:①南北差异。春季树木的开花期由南向北渐迟,每差纬度1°,平均延迟5~3天;夏季向北每差纬度1°,平均延迟1~2天。春季物候期推迟的日数向北逐渐减少;夏季向北逐渐增多。②东西差异。各种树木的春季开花期,内陆早,近海迟。由西向东延迟的日数,自春季到夏季的差异逐渐减少。③垂直差异。春季树木的开花期,垂直高度每上升100米约延迟4天;夏季每上升100米约延迟1~2天。由春季到夏季的差异逐渐减少。物候不仅反映当时的天气条件,还反映过去一段时间气象条件的积累。用物候资料推断一个地区的气候和土壤状况,可为小地区或丘陵山区农业气候研究提供依据;通过历史性物候资料分析可了解气候变化规律,进行超长期气候预测;根据物候现象出现先后次序可编制自然历,用来掌握农时;利用物候观测可鉴定农作物、果树、蔬菜、牧草、林木等不同发育期的气象条件,分析其对产量的影响,为农业增产服务。
