There are many moraine slopes which are high and steep along the north bank of Purlung Tsangpo River because of construction of Sichuan-Tibet Highway.

The research area is located at the head area of Urumqi Rjver，above 3000m and in al-pine periglacial environment．On the moraines of the Last Glaciation and Neo一glaciation al-pine meadow soils develop from 3000 to 3700 m.

This paper is intended to present a preliminary model of transfo(?) mation from moraine to the deposits of glacial debris flow, to describe the distinguishing marks between the two types of deposits, and to compare and study some characteristics of granularity, light and heavy mineral, clay mineral and gravel fabric of them.

The results indicate that high failure probability of benches is primarily depended on inherent variability of strength,anti?weathering ability and hydro?physical properties of moraine soil.

Taking the Kangdi airport as an example,the moraine soil characteristics and reinforcement methods are discussed in this paper.

Aiming at the moraine soil slope in west wall of Taihe Iron Mine,a method based on the results of in-situ test and laboratory test for moraine soil which couples automata(CA) with FLAC3D to conduct triaxial simulation test is presented and shear strength model for moraine soil is established.

The characteristic and the formation process of moraine hill in the Dalian area along the coast are analyzed from the phenomenon of the Quaternary incompact layer covering the Dalian red clay.
