Two methods for monitoring the degradation of engine oil in service through TAN change and FTIR spectroscopy are analyzed and their characteristics are investigated by contrasting the test data obtained from different methods in the field test.

The tow methods for monitoring the degradation of used engine oil including TAN and FTIR spectrascopy were studied, and the characters of the test method mentioned above were also inquired by contrasting the data acquired from different methods.
