保存一退缩反应(c onservation一withdrawalresPonses)应激条件下机体行为反应的一种类型。这类行为反应表现为活动(特别是骨骼肌活动)的抑制，个体表面上表现顺从和依附，恰与另一类行为反应—“或战或逃反应”形成对照。今天人类生活情境中所面临的大多数挑战不是肉体上的威胁，而是心理上的冲突、挫折和精神压力。因此，不允许或不可能通过骨骼肌的活动(如搏斗或逃跑的方式)来恰当地应付和处理。从而使保存一退缩反应占有重要地位。这类行为反应往往伴有抑郁、悲哀、失望、失助甚至绝望等情绪活动，严重者导致自杀行为。与这类行为和情绪活动有关的生理变化是下丘脑一垂体一肾上腺皮质轴的激活，包括迷走神经活动的增强、肾上腺皮质激素分泌的增多、性类固醇分泌量减少以及与整个外周阻抗升高有关的持续性血压升高等生理变化。如果一个人经常地处于这种应激反应状态下，那么长期的剧烈的下丘脑一垂体一肾上腺皮质轴激活就会导致机体对各种感染性疾病、消化性溃疡等的易感倾向，导致再生能力下降以及抑郁和突然死亡的可能性升高。 (梁宝勇撰徐俊见审)
